Jurassic Magic - LA cafe
Jurassic Magic felt magnetic. While visiting LA, I stumbled upon this mid-city café. As soon as I stepped inside, the offbeat café was artfully composed yet boldly mismatched. Everywhere you looked, there was a touch of personality and curation, from the screen-printed menus and foot vases to the clown umbrellas and handcrafted nic-nacks. I couldn’t stop thinking to myself, “how playful”.
the quirky and colorful exterior of Jurassic Magic café, with vibrant clown umbrellas hanging overhead, adds a playful touch to this mid-city LA hotspot.
The space felt tactile, inviting you in with a book wall featuring artists from SHUKYU Magazine & the book, How To Become A Successful Artist.I also adored seeing multiple people lounging with their books, which inspired me to pick one up myself.
It’s clear, this is a space created by creatives, meant for creatives to connect. In a world full of generic cafés, there’s something special about a place that’s not just serving coffee, but also fostering real creative connections. Jurassic Magic doesn’t just let you hang out with your own thoughts—it encourages you to connect with both the space and the people around you.

Two Girls Smiling Sitting Outside: Jurassic Magic café
Continuing through the space, you walk through a full-length mirror hallway with shattered tile flooring that leads you to the plant-filled backyard seating area. The hallway feels like you're stepping into an art installation or one of Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Rooms—you almost lose track of where you are.
Even in January, the backyard was the best spot to collect sun; it felt like a hidden garden. The indoor/outdoor vibe of the café was what really sold me, with plants everywhere and ceramics by one of the co-owners adding a personal touch.
Oh, and don’t miss the Convi store and bougie bodega right next door, both owned by the same founders. We were sent there to order our burrito, and it was so worth it.

Evergreen Daze, Honey Matcha, Dogday’s Crush drinks ordered from Jurassic Magics menu
The Caffeine & Bites:
The drink menu at Jurassic Magic had a cocktail-like feel to it, with ingredients that surprised and delighted me.
Dogday’s Crush: Hands down the best drink we tried. If you love a good bitter tea with a touch of cinnamon, this one’s for you.
Honey Matcha: As a matcha connoisseur, I was hoping for a bolder flavor, and I wish the honey made it a little sweeter. But it was still delicious.😋
Evergreen Daze: (Jasmine & Chamomile Tea): This drink was… an experience. The mix of apple cider vinegar and lime threw me off at first, Maybe our palates just weren’t advanced enough for this one!
Classic Burrito From Convi: The burrito was fresh and satisfying, with the perfect avocado-to-egg ratio. As our first meal of the day at 11:00 AM, it hit the spot. I’d love to have a jar of their signature green sauce, though—I couldn’t get enough of it.
Jurassic Magic had this irresistible, playful energy that makes me want to come back and try their espresso. It’s the kind of place that feels alive with creative possibility. If I lived in LA, I could see myself coming back daily, just waiting for that accidental, life-changing conversation—or even a meet-cute.
If you find yourself in LA, don't miss out on this gem. Jurassic Magic is more than just a café; it’s a little slice of LA magic. ✨✨
