How I’d Spend 24 Hours During the Fall in Boston

Brownstone buildings in Back Bay during autumn

Boston in late fall and early winter has this magic mix of crisp air, golden trees, and city lights just starting to glow for the holidays. This was my first time in visiting and I only had 24 hours in the city—but it turned out to be the perfect snapshot of Boston’s charm. Here’s I would spend a day exploring!

❄️ Snowport Holiday Market

The Seaport turns into a cozy winter village this time of year. Snowport just opened this weekend for the 2025 season and its is full of local vendors, twinkly lights, and that first hint of holiday spirit. Grab a hot drink, wander the stalls, and take in the skyline views—it’s pure holiday joy. I loved the diversity of vendors and got holiday gifts to bring back to my family back home.

🍁 Back Bay Stroll & Fall Color in the Public Garden

Even with the chill setting in, Back Bay is gorgeous. Brownstone-lined streets, piles of amber leaves, and reflections in the Public Garden pond make for perfect photo ops (and a great excuse to just slow down and wander).

🖼️ The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

If you only have time for one museum, make it this one. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum feels like stepping into another world—lush courtyard, eclectic art, and moody light that makes every corner photogenic.

🥟 Dumplings in Chinatown

Boston’s Chinatown is small but mighty. I stopped in for dumplings and bubble tea—simple, fast, and so satisfying after a day of walking in the cold.

☕ Tatte Bakery Stop

No Boston day is complete without a stop at Tatte Bakery. Their lattes and almond croissants are worth the hype (and perfect for warming up your hands before heading back out).

🎶 Live Music

Ended the night by sneaking into an indie band called NightCap set at a small local venue was not on my bingo cards but was one of my favorite moments! I didn’t know Boston’s music seen was so community based. There’s something special about ending a chilly fall day surrounded by good music and good people.
